I just wanted to say that as far as a grandfather was concerned Fred Lee Perry was the best. He was always there with something to teach and all the wisdom one man could give. I love you and will always.

I will truly miss talking to  Fred. No one could say my name the way he did. Lol😂😂 I will forever cherish the last day that I spent with him ; watching the Winter Olympics, laughing and praying. I said let’s have a word of prayer before Tasha gets here and he said ok but I am gonna pray. Fred prayed such a beautiful prayer I will forever remember  that moment .  I am praying for your strength Tasha , u were a excellent daughter, always there for your dad ;  and he was sooo proud to have u for his daughter..

I will never forget my cousin whom we called Fred Lee.My mother, Shirley Coleman's 1st cousin and I'm his 2nd cousin Taleda nickname Spanky.I am praying for God to comfort you Tasha at this time 🙏

After the death of my dad, I gained not only a second dad, I gained the best male mentor with the wealth of knowledge, life experience and insight on reading people with unpredictable wit and quip.

Mr. Fred Perry was my sister’s dad, but he was a father figure to many.  He gave us his love, his wisdom, his jokes, and his love of music.  We will miss his stories about life, about his growth, his strength, and about his knowledge of the world.  I will especially miss our phone calls and his hugs.  I am glad he knew how much he was dearly loved by me and others.  Mr. Fred was a truly unique individual and no one will be able to replace him.  I will love you forever and for always… ~ Metia

A Tribute to My Granddaddy Fred, from His Granddaughter Kesha

I was the lucky one who got to call him Granddaddy!

Its hard to put a life as full as his into just a few words. But when I think of my granddaddy Fred, I don't think of one single memory, I think of a feeling. He was love, in human form. He was caring, he was supportive, and he was my very first hero.

One of my earliest and most precious memories is of learning to ride my first bike. I can still see him now, running alongside me, his big, strong hand gripping the back of my seat, telling me he had me. He ran with me until, suddenly, I realized I was doing it on my own. I looked back, and he was standing a few feet away, smiling that proud smile, clapping his hands. He didn't just teach me how to balance on two wheels that day. He taught me that I could trust him to catch me if I fell, and more importantly, he taught me that I was capable of moving forward on my own.

That was the gift he gave me my whole life. He was always right there, my biggest cheerleader, encouraging me to be confident. Whenever I doubted myself, he was the voice telling me, "You've got this, Kesha. Don't you ever quit." He saw strength in me before I ever saw it in myself.

And he was so wise. He had a way of talking to you that made you feel like the most important person in the world, but you always walked away having learned something. He didn't just give advice; he planted seeds of wisdom in my heart that I will carry with me forever. He taught me how to treat people, how to work hard, and how to stand tall.

Granddaddy Fred was the foundation of our family. He was the steady hand, the warm hug, the safe place. His love wasn't complicated; it was simple and true. It was a shelter.

So today, I want to say thank you, Granddaddy. Thank you forever cheering me on. Rest easy, Granddaddy!
