He was named after his father, Guy Bryan, Sr., yet somehow he never got called that. It was always G.B., or Buddy. Dad would joke that the letters stood for “good boy,” especially after he had been up to one of his jokes, proving he was anything but good.
He started working at age seventeen, and kept at it until he was seventy, driven by the need to provide for his family of five kids and a wife he adored, sometimes having as many as two extra part-time jobs on the side in addition to his full-time work.
Alongside his family, G.B.’s faith kept him strong. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, the various churches he placed membership with reads like a roll call of the Church in Memphis. Hollywood, Mountain Terrace, White Station, Raleigh, Coleman Avenue, Collierville, Forest Hill Irene, Germantown.
G.B. joins his beloved wife Bettie Alice, and his daughter Anita Winter-Alexander in Heaven and leaves behind the following family; Brother-in-law, Thomas Graham, son Paul Dorman (husband Ray Weber), daughters Anna B. Pieri, and Lizabeth Dorman, son Bryan Dorman (wife Lori Dorman), grandson Kalki Winter (wife Wendy Sumner-Winter), grandson Bryan Andrew Dorman (wife Natalie Dorman-Delgado), granddaughter Amanda Alexander, great grandchildren Virginia Grace Sumner-Winter, Jack Mclelland, Elise Dorman-Delgado, and Kaeden Dorman-Delgado.
He will be sorely missed.
