Gene T. Thompson, 85, of Arlington, TN, formerly of Memphis, passed away March 3, 2014 at his home. The family will gather with friends on Friday, March 7, beginning at 1:00 p.m., and funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue. Entombment will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Thompson played minor league baseball, and later retired from Humko Chemical Company. He enjoyed hunting in his spare time, but his most important focus in life was his family. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; and his sons, Mike and Danny. He is survived by his grandson, Shane Thompson; his granddaughter, Jennifer Fears (Rick); 3 great grandchildren, Tara, Lauren, and Ricky; and his great-great granddaughter, Khaleesi Grace.
