Harrison "Happy" Roach

Harrison “Happy” Roach, 86, passed away March 19, 2015. He was a loving husband, father and brother went to be with his heavenly father and Lord in Savior. He acquired the nickname, “Happy”, at an early age because of his wonderful disposition and happy smile that he carried with him the rest of his life. We was born July 23, 1928 to Granville Mathis Roach and Eula Williams Roach in Stanton, TN. He attended Bartlett High School. He worked at General Outdoor Advertising Co and retired from TVA. He was a member of IBEW Local 474 for 70 plus years. He was a former member and deacon of Berclair Baptist Church and Richland Baptist Church. He is a current member of Liberty Baptist Church in Covington, TN. Happy was inducted into the 1995 Memphis Park Commission Hall of Fame as a Golden Gloves Boxer. Happy leaves his wife, Doris A. Roach of Covington, TN; two sons Ken (Ann) Roach of Millington, TN and Jeff (Robin) Roach of Memphis, TN; granddaughters Keri Roach of Colorado and Anna Roach of Memphis, TN; brother Kenny (Donna Sue) Roach of Germantown, TN; in laws Mary Alice Willis of Germantown, TN, Patsy Roach of Bartlett, TN Nancy and Odell Kinney of Covington, TN, Rachael and Milford Durham of Ripley, TN, Joyce Howell of Memphis, TN, Gene and June Walton of Covington, TN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Betty L. Roach, grandson Spencer Harrison Roach, parents Granville and Eula Roach, brothers William Roach, Royce “Preacher” Roach and Garnet Roach; sister Rae Simmerson. Family will receive friends Friday, March 20 at Memphis Funeral Home 5599 Poplar Ave. from 4:30-7 p.m. Services will be Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church 2097 Holly Grove Road, Covington, TN. The burial will take place in Memphis Memory Gardens at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund.
