

Helen Cicil Eskridge Ayers Hagan, of Germantown, TN went home to be with her Lord on July 26, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Utica, KY, June 25, 1918. She graduated in 1936 from Owensboro High School where she was Valedictorian of her class, a member of the Pep Club, Glee Club, Dramatics and on the Annual staff. Helen was Miss Owensboro Centennial Baseball Queen in 1939, Bathing Beauty at Bosse Field at the age of 17, runner up to Miss Indiana and May Queen in high school. She worked at Dodson Engineering in Evansville, IN for 49 years and modeled for clothing stores as a hobby. She loved to fish, shop, eat out, play cards, travel and spoil her cat, Lila. Helen had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She had a very giving heart, giving to her church and different organizations up until her death She loved to spend time with her children and loved ones. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church where she always looked forward to attending her Bible studies and church. She was a special lady and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hettie and Estel Eskridge and her spouses, Earl V. Ayers and Lewis F. Hagan. She is survived by two sons, Jay Ayers (Jan) of Haubstadt, IN and Jack Ayers of Germantown, TN; grandchildren, Matt Ayers (Kristy) of Chandler, IN, L. Ryan Ayers (Margaux) of Toledo, OH, Jennifer Swan of Las Vegas, and Robb C. Ayers of Toledo, OH and 9 great-grandchildren and two special caregivers, Brenda Vaughn and Gina Hein. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue.
