Pastor Emeritus Howard Anthony Griffen

Howard was born on a Tuesday, December 22, 1964 to Minister Howard A. Peters, III,PH.D., and Annie Griffen Hill. He was raised in a Christian home, grounded in faith and was nurtured in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Howard was the founder and pastor of Holy Faith United Christian Ministries, his last pastoral ship where he served faithfully as Pastor Emeritus until the Lord called him home.

Howard was a scholar in his life studies and a conqueror in most of his endeavors. But most importantly, he was a Christian and a man of faith. He was a great husband to his loving and dedicated wife, Vanessa Summerville Griffen. Not only was Howard a great husband, he was a loving father and grandfather. Howard loved his church, family and friends and those of whom he came in contact with.

A visitation for Howard will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M.J. Edwards Funeral Home, 1165 Airways Blvd, Memphis, TN 38114. A funeral will occur Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Greater White Stone Missionary Baptist Church, 917 S Wellington St, Memphis, TN 38126. Pastor Howard A. Griffen will be placed in a mausoleum at New Park Cemetery, 4536 Horn Lake Road, Memphis, TN, immediately following the funeral service.
