Irene Jenkins Lyon, 98, passed away December 6, 2020 at her home in Millington. She was born August 1, 1922 to Roy and Etta Mae Nichols Jenkins in Tupelo, Mississippi. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and loved to cook. Her true passion was caring for others which she done tirelessly throughout her life. She was a current member at Trafalgar Village Baptist Church and was formally a member of Graham Height Baptist Church. Mrs. Lyon was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W.C. Lyon; daughter, Carolyn Cecil and a brother, James Jenkins.
She is survived by son, Michael Lyon of Millington, Tennessee; grandchildren, Patte Holden (Stan) of Bartlett, Tennessee, Doug Cecil of Covington, Tennessee, Julie Penn (William) of Germantown, Tennessee, Kim Brewer of Arlington, Tennessee and Joshua Lyon of Millington, Tennessee; eleven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lyon will be held Friday December 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh LaGrange Road, Memphis, Tennessee,
