
James L. Braden, 93, of Memphis, retired Navy Commander, died December 9, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. He was a WWII veteran, stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. He received the Bronze Star with Combat "V" Navy Commendation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with 4 Stars, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Commander Braden was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, the Retired Officers Association, a Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Audrey T. Braden. Other survivors are Dr. Bob Rushing of Hermitage, AR, Clarence Perkins of Pine Bluff, AR, Wayne Perkins (Janet) of Bentonville, AR, Trey and Leigh Perkins of Bentonville, Meredith Perkins Whitmore (Bill) of North Little Rock, and Lauren, Allyse and Tyler Braden Whitmore. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, with the service to follow at 12 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue, with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Grant County Museum in Sheridan, AR or the charity of the donor's choice .
