

James Calvin Ingram, Jr., 87, of Memphis, passed away on March 31, 2014. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, June Ingram. Jim and June met in Sunday school at First United Methodist Church, Memphis. They were charter members of Christ United Methodist Church and were members of the Kingswood class. Jim was also preceded in death by his parents Helen and James Ingram (formerly of Brownsville and Somerville, TN); by his son James “Jimmy” Ingram, III; and by five sisters: Sara Jane Ingram Webb, Helen “Sibba” Ingram McCarty, Georgia Ingram Rogers, Francis “Fran” Ingram Teehan, and Martha “Mar” Ingram Highfill. Jim was a graduate of Central High School and Shelby State Community College. He had a successful career as a furniture manufacturer sales representative. After he retired, he worked in the hub at FedEx. He was a 3rd Degree Master Mason and fifty year member of Desoto Lodge 299. Jim enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served on the LST-519. After retirement, he enjoyed being an active member of the LST Association. Jim leaves his daughter Janice Blauert (Gary) of Virginia Beach, VA, his son Jack Ingram (Laurinda) of Germantown, and five grandchildren: Beth Darrow (David), Chris Blauert (Susan), Jesse Ingram, and John and William Ingram. He also leaves four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Avenue. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5 in the Wilson Chapel at Christ United Methodist Church followed by a reception at the church. Memorials may be sent to Christ United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
