

JAMES E. ‘’Jimmy’’ THOMAS, JR., 85, of Memphis, TN, died of natural causes on December 31, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Skinner Thomas. He is survived by his two sons, James ‘’Everett’’ Thomas, III and Trammel Winslow (Turk) Thomas, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Thomas attended Ole Miss where he was a member of SAE. During his business career, he was an active member of Chickasaw County Club in Memphis. In 1952, he started J. E. Thomas Company as manufacturers’ reps for the paint and coatings industries. In the early 1960’s, he opened JETSUPPLY as a wholesale warehouse of paint sundries and related products. In the mid 1960’s, he opened JETCO as a manufacturer of paint sundries and related products and reactivation and blending equipment for the paint, ink and adhesive industries. He remained president of JETCO until the company’s closure. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. all at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
