James Larry Yates Sr., 81 passed away April 1, 2016 at Methodist Germantown. He attended Southside High School where he was a Class of 53 Southside Scrapper. He was an avid motorcyclist, and enjoyed golfing in his spare time. He was a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bobbye R. Yates; daughter, Deborah (Henry) Champluvier; sons, James Larry Yates, Jr., Donald Yates and Jeffery Yates; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive guest for the sharing of stories, refreshments and memories on Monday, April 4 from five o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. Services for Mr. Yates will be conducted Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at ten o'clock in the chapel of Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis.
