

Jean was married to Rick Hoppe on May 9, 1947, and together they had two children. She was a dedicated secretary for the Memphis City Schools Board of Education, from which she retired. Later in her career, she worked as an administrative assistant at a training center for troubled youths.
A woman of deep faith, Jean was a longtime member of Central Christian Church and later joined First Evangelical Church. She had a passion for walking, which she enjoyed daily.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Glenn Hoppe, her two children, Rick Hoppe and Chris Kahler, her parents, Elbert Buckminster and Ella Krieger Buckminster, and a nephew, Glenn Beatty. She is survived by her grandsons, Josh Kahler (April) and Rick Kahler (Christina); granddaughters, Kim Rogers (Cody) and Crystal Emmons; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Buckminster Beatty, and two nieces, Debra Beatty Robb and Donna Beatty Witsberger (Kelly).
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Galloway Health and Rehab for their kindness and dedicated care.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14 from 12:30 PM until the funeral service at 1:30 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial donations should be directed to First Evangelical Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
