Jerry passed away suddenly on Tuesday Feb, 25 2025. Proceded in death by his mother, Myra-Joyce "Boots", Father Clark, and brother Joe. Jerry leaves behind his wife, Shellie, sons Jeremy and Zach, and a brother, Jimmy (Cheryl).
Jerry loved listening to live music, especially in his cherished hometown, Memphis. He enjoyed debating current events with anyone unfortunate enough to engage and watching his most beloved Tennessee Volunteers.
To capture Jerry's essence, charisma, and charm one would need a whole newspaper's worth of space. His defining bombastic energy and warmth is what his wife Shellie, and sons Jeremy and Zach miss the most about him. He was a loving husband and nurturing father. To say those are the only surviving parties to Jerry's passing is a gross understatement of his legacy. His impact exceeds far more than what can be written in words. Jerry was born to be a salesman. Lucky for him, he recognized his talents early and spent a lifelong highly diverse career in sales. He found a home in the Security & Fire Alarm industry before he eventually retired in 2016. Jerry's true talent, aside from telling the occasional stale joke, was making a genuinely personable connection with anyone he met. Jerry never met anyone who he didn't embrace as family. He lovingly opened his home to his Mother-in-Law where she happily lived for 26 years. The true scale of his impact and lives he touched cannot be measured. but he is bitterly lamented by numerous Overton High classmates, hundreds of business colleagues, a great many neighbors, Phillips's, in-laws, and countless acquaintances whoever had the pleasure of meeting him. Regardless of how anyone knew him, his loss is felt deeply. The ironic circumstances surrounding Jerry's heart related death, is that his heart was truly his best attribute and his everlasting legacy.
Come to help us celebrate and share in that legacy at Memphis Funeral Home 5599 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN 38119 on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 2:00pm.
