

John Milton Hastings, born on August 15, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on December 8, 2025, at the age of 80 years. A beloved and cherished individual, John was known for his love of his family and his community and will be remembered for his humor, humility, and kindness.
John was a graduate of Catholic High School for Boys, where he laid the foundation for a life of service and dedication. He joined the United States Navy and served honorably on the USS Ticonderoga. After his discharge, he returned to Memphis State University, where he completed his degree in Accounting. He worked as an accountant at Arlington Developmental Center until his retirement.
In his personal life, John was a devoted husband and left behind his wife, two children, and two grandchildren, as well as four sisters. His family was a source of immense pride and joy, reflecting his deep commitment to those he loved. He enjoyed Irish and Scottish folk music and spent hours cheering for his granddaughters at their soccer games.
Expressions of gratitude can be made in John's memory by donation to the Germantown Animal Shelter, the Alzheimer's Association, or the National Kidney Foundation, causes that were close to his heart.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 2300 Hickory Crest Drive, Memphis, Tennessee 38119, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Burial with military honors will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene, Memphis, Tennessee 38125.
