Jorge Juan Chicaguala

Jorge Juan Chicaguala Varela was born in Antofagasta, Chile, February 1, 1937 and passed away in Memphis, TN at 5:50 am on November 5, 2024 at the age 87. He is survived by 5 of his children, Esther Flores (Alberto), of Lewisville, TX, Elizabeth Lucas (Douglas), of Montevideo, Uruguay, David Chicaguala (Christina), of Brooklyn, NY, Ruth Griffin (Larry), of Memphis, TN, and Anny Sanchez (Jorge), of Argyle, TX.

He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Steve Flores (Tara), of O’Fallon, MO, Vladimir Flores (Jennifer), of Aubrey, TX, Rachel Chicaguala (Zach Buckner), of Brooklyn, NY, Nicolás Griffin (Adrienne), of Southaven, MS, Daniel Sanchez (Jessica Timpson), of Austin, TX, Jacquolyn Chicaguala Novoa (Ryan), of Brooklyn, NY, and Jeremy Griffin (Kendall), of Memphis, TN, as well as 10 Great Grandchildren, Alicia Flores, Adrian Flores, Ava Rios, Liam Flores, Valentina Flores, Enzo Flores, Tobias Griffin, Phoebe Griffin, Levi Griffin, Oliver Chicaguala-Novoa.

He is survived by 3 siblings, Hernando Chicaguala, Rosa Chicaguala, and Sylvia Chicaguala, all in Chile.

He was preceded in death by his wife Georgina del Carmen Guerra de Chicaguala, his parents, Hernando Chicaguala and Concepción Elena Varela, two siblings, Carmen Chicaguala, Walter Chicaguala, as well as one child, Pablo Hernando Chicaguala.

Jorge graduated from the Seminario Teológico Interdenominacional de Chile en 1956 and served with his wife as a missionary in Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and the United States of America, establishing Bible Institutes in Paraguay and Uruguay. He served as a pastor in Miami, FL and professor in Memphis, TN.

Jorge was a man of deep faith and a passionate servant, dedicated to his family and to the work of God. As a loving father and faithful mentor, he always prioritized the well-being of those he loved, facing challenges with unwavering serenity. His stable and romantic nature inspired everyone around him. With an intense passion for preaching, Jorge lived to share the message of Christ, and his love for study and reading nourished his spirit and wisdom. He was a leader who never stopped in the face of adversity and a faithful friend who, throughout his life, left an indelible mark of faith and love in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Le sobreviven 3 hermanos, Hernando Chicaguala, Rosa Chicaguala y Sylvia Chicaguala, todos en Chile.

Le precedieron en la muerte su esposa Georgina del Carmen Guerra de Chicaguala, sus padres, Hernando Chicaguala y Concepción Elena Varela, dos hermanos, Carmen Chicaguala, Walter Chicaguala, así como un hijo, Pablo Hernando Chicaguala.

Jorge se graduó del Seminario Teológico Interdenominacional de Chile en 1956 y sirvió con su esposa como misionero en Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina y los Estados Unidos de América, estableciendo Instituciones Bíblicas en Paraguay y Uruguay. Se desempeñó como pastor en Miami, Florida y profesor en Memphis, Tennessee.

Jorge fue un hombre de profunda fe y un siervo apasionado, dedicado a su familia y a la obra de Dios. Como padre amoroso y mentor fiel, siempre priorizó el bienestar de quienes amaba, enfrentando los desafíos con una serenidad inquebrantable. Su naturaleza estable y romántica inspiraba a todos a su alrededor. Con una pasión intensa por predicar, Jorge vivía para compartir el mensaje de Cristo, y su amor por el estudio y la lectura nutría su espíritu y sabiduría. Fue un líder que jamás se detuvo ante la adversidad y un amigo fiel. que, a través de su vida, dejó una huella imborrable de fe y amor en los corazones de quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.
