

Humorist, storyteller, artist, Joe died on Friday. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Eleanor Arthur Woodward, his children Evans III, Katharine Taylor, Allison Alder, his grandchildren: Hunter Taylor, Ellie Taylor, Logan Woodward, Clay and Carly Alder.
His son-in-laws were Gene Taylor and Blake Alder.
His brother Samuel Morrow Woodward and sister Jan Friemark of Oxford.
He attended University School in Oxford and graduated from University of Mississippi where he was a Kappa Alpha.
Joe was in a number of theatre plays and movies including Walking Tall, Great Balls of Fire, Why I live at the P. O., Saloon, You know I can’t hear you when the water is running, a Mark Twain special at Theatre Memphis. The Arts Alliance Humanities Award was given to Joe for his accomplishments relative to theatre.
He was a teacher of Interior Design at Memphis University for several years.
His design career included Paul Jaffe Interiors, John Simmons Underground, and President of Joe Woodward Interiors in Germantown.
Germantown Charity Horse Show elected Joe President for two years as did the
Germantown Theatre. Germantown Design Review Commission of the city.
Visitation will be on Monday at Memphis Funeral Home from 5 – 7 with funeral Services at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church on Wolf River Blvd. Tuesday at 11 AM.
