Leslie "Clay" Thomas

Leslie (Clay) Thomas, age 94 of Memphis, TN passed away July 12, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. Devoted Husband and Loving Father, is survived in death by his daughter, Donna Cobb and son-in-law, Bryan Cobb of Memphis. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Dorothy (Dot) Thomas; son, Leslie Clay Thomas Jr.; parents, William and Lucille Thomas; brother, Elmore Thomas; and twin brother, Wesley (Carl) Thomas. Clay grew up in Cordova, TN and graduated from Germantown High School. He was a WWII Veteran and served his country in the Army 88th Infantry Division/Combat Engineers. He retired from Texaco Oil Company after 30 years in 1977. Clay was loved by all who knew him for his kindness and generous heart. He loved all animals, especially his dog Chloe and his cats. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Memphis Humane Society or a shelter or animal advocacy group of the donor’s choice. Visitation will be at 1 pm Saturday, July 16th followed by funeral service at 2pm at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. with a reception immediately afterwards for fellowship and refreshments. A private burial will be at Morning Sun Cemetery in Cordova, TN.
