

Louis Daniel Conn, Jr., 91, of Memphis, died September 23, 2013. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 26th at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, with a memorial service and reception there on Friday at 11 a.m. He was born March 23, 1922 to Louis Daniel Conn, Sr. and Rosa Neal Conn. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps, and following his service completed his engineering degree at Georgia Tech. He was a devoted husband and family man. He loved to build model airplanes, to study the Bible, and taught himself computer programming languages during his retirement. He retired in 1988 after a 40-year career at Dover Elevator Corporation where he designed elevator control units. He was a charter member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Memphis where he served as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Wright Conn and his siblings, Thelma Conn Bills, Francis Conn, and Ruth Conn Smith. He is survived by his children, Laurence D. Conn (Catherine) and Melissa Conn Pearson (Wiley), both of Memphis, and James E. Conn (Ann) of Nashville; grandchildren, Katy Clouse, Justin Conn, Melissa Jarnigan, Christopher Conn, Houston Crabtree, and Catherine Null; four great- grandchildren, and his dear friend, Chor Chiang. The family is truly grateful for the remarkable care and diligence of his caregivers from Trusted Care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
