Margaret Hulsey Buck

A native of Memphis, TN, she was a daughter of the late William and Isabel Howard Hulsey. Peggy was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William Henry Buck, Jr., who died in 2009.

She graduated from Miss Hutchinson’s School. She attended Mary Baldwin College and the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She was a past member of The Duration Club and a charter member of The Ceres Garden Club. She was also a member of Le Bonheur Club and the Women’s Exchange. She was active in the Cotton Carnival and was a member of the King’s Circle of Osiris Secret Society and a duchess of Memphi Secret Society. She was a member of the Church Of The Holy Communion Episcopal, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the All Saints Guild.

She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Price (Walker) of Asheville, Sandra Thompson (Bruce) of Gainesville, FL and Brenda O’Connor (Matthew) of Chesapeake, VA. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Memphis Funeral Home. A private family-only graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that you consider a contribution in Peggy’s memory to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a charity of one’s choice.
