

Marilyn Merritt Wilson, 79, was born September 18, 1933 in Memphis, Texas, yes, that is Memphis, Texas, to Clifford S. Merritt and Mamie Bowdoin Merritt. She passed away on October 15, 2012 in Memphis, Tennessee after a brief illness. Marilyn was the first born to Clifford and Mamie and remained number one her entire life throughout her many careers. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Hoyt L. Wilson; a sister, Martha Gibson of Brownwood, Texas; multiple nieces and nephews in Texas and Colorado as well as many friends and neighbors in Memphis, Alabama and of course, Texas. Marilyn's careers spanned more than 50 years. She was a school teacher, a real estate agent and co-owner of a printing business with her husband, Hoyt. She was an avid gardener and interior decorator as well as a Greentrees Neighborhood historian. She will be laid to rest at Cedars Memorial Gardens in Mineola, Texas on Thursday, October 18 at 2 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Memphis Union Missions, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice .
