She is survived by a sister Joan and her son John Joseph along with her grandchildren Amanda and Sean Michael. In addition, she is survived by her second husband of over forty-two years.
Mrs. Hallman was born in Norfolk, Virginia during her father’s service in World War II. She lived most of her life in Memphis and Shelby County but did spend some time living in the Denver, Colorado area and Texas. Mary and her second husband spent 6 years in Tarrant County, Texas at Euless, South Lake and Grapevine because her husband had recently retired and her children’s family lived in Colleyville.
Mary was a native in a number of “sales from home” organizations including Avon, Princess House, and Tupperware. She was active for a period of time in the American Business Women’s Association where she served a term as president of the chapter. She was also a member of United Daughters of The Confederacy as she followed her mother’s footsteps in that membership.
Mrs. Hallman enjoyed traveling and visited Luray Caverns in Virginia and ancestral lands adjoining, including the South Shenandoah Valley near Luray, where her ancestors settled in as early as 1726. She visited many places from Madison, Wisconsin to Miami, Florida and Williamsburg, Virginia to Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico. When traveling she enjoyed the Bed and Breakfast life throughout the south.

Letter From A Friend
My friend Mary Margaret Hallman
Mary Margaret was a true friend to anyone that knew her. She looked for the good and talents in all she came in contact with and encouraged each person to reach their potential.
She was a member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) to promote the advantages of networking of women in the Memphis business community. As a single mother for many years, she advanced herself in a predominantly male business environment without intimidation. Her son was her motivation and her parents a guiding light.
She loved helping her fellow co-workers at Dunavant Enterprises as a health care benefits coordinator. Her passion was taking care of the employees and advising them on all their health care benefits and needs. She never stopped until she achieved her goal which benefited her fellow co-workers.
Mary Margaret was a gift to everyone. She spoiled everyone she knew with gifts of not only kindness but special material gifts to everyone's liking. She sold Avon and together with a friend, achieving Honor Society and President's Club year after year. She was a great sales person. She hosted parties in her home for Princess House Crystal, Longaberger Baskets, Tupperware, Premiere Jewelry and many other direct sales home parties. Her tea parties were exquisite with every attention to detail.
Mary Margaret stood hand in hand with her friends. Through good times and rough patches. She and Steve were there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with help for the hurting. Always encouraging and optimistic that a brighter day was ahead and there were plenty of good times ahead. A cup of hot chocolate in the winter, donuts from Gibson's or breakfast at Perkins, chex mix and gingerbread houses for Christmas and good times with laughter all the rest of the year.
She will be missed. I wear my earrings everyday that she gifted me on my 35th birthday and 17 years later they are my prize possession and I am never without them. Manicures and Movies, Love and Laughter. SHe was a BEST FRIEND. She and Steve, a love of a lifetime, friends forever.
I love you Mary Margaret
