

Mary Joyce Hixson (Joyce), age 82, of Memphis, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 2, 1942, Joyce was the eldest of three sisters and lived a life marked by faith, love, and creativity.
Joyce was a woman of many gifts. A lover of music and song, she possessed a beautiful voice that brought joy to those around her. She was an exceptional baker and a talented cake decorator, whose creations were as delightful to look at as they were to taste. Joyce also had a gift for words - writing poems and short stories that reflected her gentle spirit and deep love for the Lord.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Joyce loved Jesus with all her heart and found great joy in studying her Bible. She was a loyal and steadfast prayer warrior, faithfully lifting her family and friends in prayer over the years.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Reba and James Pickle; her beloved son, James Marvin; and her grandson, Anthony Skyler. She is loved and survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Warren Hixson of Memphis, and her two sons, Warren Edward and Lee Anthony. She also leaves behind two grandsons, Michael Andrew and Jace Lee.
She is survived by her two sisters, Marty Pearce and Peggy Edwards. Joyce leaves behind her nephews and niece: Chuck Cook, Ricky Cook, John Edwards, and Lisa Smith. She is also survived by her great-nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.
Joyce’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be announced at a later date.
