Modeena Johnson Pemberton

Dolly was born February 21,1924, in Alfalfa, OK, to James Oscar Johnson and Lucy Green Smith Johnson.

She married Devon Pemberton, December 26, 1940 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. She and Devon

had 4 children: Dana Windley, Jackie Pemberton, Larry Pemberton, and Terri Morris.

Dolly was an active member of Whitehaven Baptist Church for more than 50 years along with being an

active member of TOPS for nearly 40 years. While participating in TOPS she received numerous awards

including national recognition for being one of the longest active members in the history of TOPS. Her

favorite pastimes included: Church, traveling, contributing to several local charities, growing flowers and

plants, and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Dolly was preceded in death by Devon Pemberton (husband), Dana Windley (daughter), Larry

Pemberton (son), Nikki Pemberton (granddaughter), sisters: Lucille Lasley, Dean Firestone, Lava Roach,

Thelma Johnson, Vera Johnson, and brother Jack Johnson.

Dolly is survived by 2 children: Jackie Pemberton (Jo) Southaven and Terri Morris, Memphis.

She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Bobby McCord (LaDonna) Walls; Ashley Anderson (Willy)

Hernando; Brooke Till (Brian) Olive Branch; Christy Chandler (Dennis) Southaven, 9 great grandchildren:

Macie, Triston, and Brady Anderson; Renee Stilwell and Ryan Till; Cameron, Lilly, Nathan, and Colton

Chandler and 1 sister Edna and husband Lester Spriggs of Greenbrier, AR.

Dolly was a wonderful wife, momma, grandmother, and mee-mee. She will forever be in all of our

hearts and will be missed beyond words.
