Nell Watkins Baugh

Nell Watkins Baugh, 88, is now in the presence of our Lord. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December, 25, 2013. Nell was the only child of the late Lillian Harwell Baugh and Frederick Marion Baugh. Nell was a lifelong Memphian who was born on November 3, 1925. She is a 1943 graduate of Memphis Central High School. Nell worked for Sea-Land Steamship Line until retirement. While working in the exporting business and into retirement, she was actively involved in the Memphis World Trade Club (MWTC). Nell acted as the Treasurer of the MWTC and was involved in all aspects of the Club. Over the last forty years, Nell kept herself busy promoting the Club and acting as a "housemother" and counselor for many of its members. In her honor, the MWTC established the Nell Baugh International Scholarship Award at the University of Memphis. Nell’s family would like to thank her many friends who took such good care of her in her twilight years. You all were a blessing in her life. She is survived by many cousins including Sissy Baugh Nickels of Memphis, Mack Baugh of Bradenton, FL, and Bob Baugh of Raleigh, NC. Visitation and funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 28, at Memphis Funeral Home; 5599 Poplar Ave. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service. Burial will follow in Forest Hills - Midtown. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
