Ora Sue Thompson, 83, of Memphis, died Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Mrs. Thompson was born on September 13, 1935 in Memphis, TN and adopted by Tom and Helen Bennett. She graduated from Southside High School in 1957. She married Jere C Thompson in 1959 and worked in banking and foodservice industry until she retired in 2001. A fierce advocate for those unable to do so for themselves, she dedicated her life to caring for her mentally disabled daughter and later her husband as he battled Alzheimer’s disease.
Ms. Thompson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Betty Thompson of Somerville, TN; her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Beverly Thompson of Johnson City, TN; daughter, Kathy Thompson; brother, Bill Caldwell of Columbus, MS; and two grandchildren Tyler and Chandler Thompson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jere and her parents.
The family will receive friends Saturday January 19, 2019 from noon to 1 p.m. at Germantown Baptist Church with the service following visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Germantown Baptist Church or the Madonna Learning Center, Germantown, TN.
