Owen Allen Olmstead

Owen Allen Olmstead was born December 19, 1939 in Beebe Arkansas. He was a proud supporter of his local High School team the Beebe Badgers where he played football. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from August 1958 through August 1962. Once leaving the U.S. Navy he resided in Memphis, TN where he met his wife Mackie. Married for 61 years he passed peacefully at home with his wife and two daughters with him. He enjoyed a career in furniture and hardware sales, was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan and enjoyed playing golf.

Owen is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Olmstead (Beebe, AR), his brother Neal Olmstead (Cabot, AR) and Carol Lynn Olmstead, his daughter (Memphis, TN)

He is survived by his wife Mackie (Memphis, TN), his daughters Leigh (Russell) Etters (Eads, TN), and Jennifer (Keith) Cress, (Piperton, TN), his brother Michael (Joyce) Olmstead (Tupelo, MS) and 5 grandchildren Sarah Etters (Cordova, TN), Cooper Etters (Naples, Italy), Hayden (Jannah) Etters (Virginia Beach, VA), Larry Cress (Gulfport, MS) and Ella Cress (Dalton, GA).

We would like to thank Baptist Trinity Home Care & Hospice for the excellent care and support they provided to Owen and his family.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 5th at Memphis Memory Gardens at 6444 Raleigh LaGrange Rd, Memphis, TN. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org.
