Palmer Young Waters of Bartlett, TN entered into eternal rest on Saturday morning at 2:58 AM. His strong faith in the living God kept him all his day on the earth. In the end Palmers mortal body failed him but that unwavering love for the truth of God has now rewarded him. He was born in Athens, GA May, 29th 1953 to the late Joseph Oliver Waters and Mary Pauline (Beard) Waters of Commerce, GA. He graduated from Commerce High School class of 1971. Palmer was married to Deborah (Debby) Sue Griffin June 30, 1972, daughter of Jim and Sue Griffin of Memphis TN. Palmer worked with his family at Waters’ Brothers Furniture Store during his younger years. Palmer and Debby left Commerce, GA and moved to Memphis, TN in 1978. He worked as a manager in the Danvers’s Fast Food Restaurants for several years, later he continued managing at Mrs. Delby’s where they were famous for throwing rolls. Palmer found his calling in car sales at Schilling Lincoln Mercury Ford on Union Ave. and later transferred to Covington Way Lincoln Mercury. He finished his car sales career at Ford of West Memphis in 2009. Palmer was an accomplished sales person with several awards. He loved meeting people and selling cars.
Palmer was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Oliver Waters and Pauline (Beard) Waters by his sister Juanita (Waters) Shippey and his brother in law Danny Hagy. He leaves his wife Deborah (Griffin) Waters, and son David Allen Waters (Tina) and three granddaughters Chloe Waters (mother Marcie Phillips), Landry Waters, Aubree Waters, sisters Lucy (Waters) Hagy and Susan (Waters) Mathis (Duane) and brother Oliver Waters (Joyce), brother in law Sterling Shippey.
He also leaves many other family members, wife’s siblings, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Palmer had a great love for children and they all adored him. He had a special bond with his oldest granddaughter Chloe. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Family Funeral Care with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow services from 2:30 -4:30 p.m.
