Philip "Pink" Powell Gorman Jr., age 90, of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. He was born August 30, 1934 in Leland, Mississippi to Philip Powell Gorman, Sr. and Orene Williams Gorman. He graduated from Leland High School and attended Delta State University. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Bennington aircraft carrier during the Korean War. He began his career with Wholesale Supply (Jackson, MS) and later became part owner of Central Pipe Supply before going to work for Stovall Engineering, retiring in 2008. He was an avid Ole Miss football fan. During his lifetime he played baseball in high school, college, Navy, semi-pro, and city league in Jackson. He was a long time member and a deacon at Germantown Baptist Church. He was a great story teller.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley DeWees Gorman; two children, Jerri Gorman and Philip Gorman, III (Gillis); a granddaughter, Kennedy Kingston (Greg); two step-grandchildren, Jennifer Podesta and Jessica Kuhn; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Tom Gorman.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:30 AM, at Germantown Baptist Church, 9450 Poplar Ave, Germantown, TN 38139. Committal service will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to Germantown Baptist Church or Faith Walk Mid-South.
