Raymond Melvin Newcomb

A visitation for Raymond will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. A graveside service will occur Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Memphis Memory Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his parents Claude Lawrence and Lula Tanner Newcomb, sister Ruby N. Boswell and wife Gloria P. Newcomb.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne H. Newcomb, daughter Janis N. Ellington (Ken), family member Kay Smith (Paul), grandson Jarrett Ellington (Daniela)

Great grandchildren Noah and Olivia Ellington, sister Gale Meredith, nephews, Wade M Boswell (Judy), Dr. Richard Boswell (Jennie), niece Julia Shibla (Verne).

Ray served in the United States Navy. He was an electrician and retired from Allen Electric Company. He also served as a deacon for 50 years with Highland Heights

Baptist Church then was chairman of the deacons with Wells Station Baptist Church.

Ray was known for his many talents in woodworking. One of his proudest accomplishments was a complete bedroom suite for his daughter and son-in-law wedding present as well as

A gorgeous Grandfathers clock. He enjoyed motorcycle riding with his family and friends, water sports and traveling.
