

The Pohlmans have seven sons and seven daughters-in-law; Ray and Anita, Steve and Susan, Bob and Debbie, Jim and Mary, Mike and Catherine, Greg and Jeanne, and Jeff and Robin. He was a devoted and loving grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Ray is also survived by his two sisters, Bernice Sutter and Laverne Ausdenmoore both of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Born in Cincinnati in 1926, Ray moved his family to Memphis in 1962 to continue his career as an electrical engineer at what later became Dover Elevator Company. He also taught engineering at the State Technical Institute. A communicant of St. Louis Catholic Church, Ray spent many years on the board of the Serra Club of Memphis encouraging spiritual growth and vocations to the religious life. A veteran of WWII, Ray served with distinction in the United States Navy.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Louis Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. The family will be accepting visitors on Tuesday, July 22, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Louis Church, 603 S. White Station Rd.
The family requests memorials be sent to the Msgr. Paul Clunan Endowment Fund at St. Louis Church, the Br. Adrian Scholarship Fund at Christian Brothers High School, the Serra Club of Memphis Seminarian Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
