

Ronald Jordan McCool, 75, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Memphis, passed away on Wednesday March 14, 2012 at his home. He was born March 24, 1936 in New Albany, Mississippi. He graduated from Columbia Military Academy in 1954 and Memphis State University in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He entered military service in 1959, US Army, 3rd Cavalry, and was deeply committed to the military and service to his country over the following years. His career included his own landscaping company, perhaps a result of years helping his father tend the 6000 or so azaleas and the tulips on the family home on Perkins, and several years in public administration, urban planning and emergency preparedness in Memphis, Gallatin TN, and New Orleans, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus McCool and Kathleen Jordan McCool, and is survived by four children, Scotty, Claire, Kathleen and Karen, their children and other relatives; many dear family friends including Harry Furner; and his wife, Karen Hilton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday March 19 at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. with a brief visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
