Ronald Richard Scobey, lifelong Memphian, was born on June 15, 1942 and passed away on April 12, 2015. Ronald loved life and family. He was a man that always put himself last, and would give not only the shirt off his back but also the food from his deep freeze to help someone in need. He was a Memphis Firefighter for 30 years serving our community with strength and pride. Ronald had such a big and strong heart. He fought a hard battle with cancer, but in the end his big heart just had to rest. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Scobey; daughters, Pam Stahl (Art), Angela Watford and Ronda Doyle; son, Tim Coleman (Patti); seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his beloved fur-baby, “Josh”. A gathering will be held at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, on Tuesday, April 14 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, April 15 at 2:00pm in the Memphis Funeral Home North Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
