

Sarah “Sally” Lundy Pridgen, age 83, died Friday, August 26, 2011, from cancer. The funeral service will be held at First Evangelical Church at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 29. The family will receive friends in the church chapel at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Memphis Memorial Park. Mrs. Pridgen was born in Belzoni, MS on September 2, 1927. She attended Belhaven College and Southwestern at Memphis where she was a Tri-Delta. She was active member of First Evangelical Church for over 50 years. She was a volunteer with The Woman’s Exchange, was involved with Bible Study Fellowship as a children’s leader for many years, was a member of Our Home and Garden Club, and was a member of the D.A.R. She was pre-deceased by her brother, James Drue Lundy, Jr., of Belzoni, MS, her loving husband, Stephen Allen Pridgen, and three of her grandsons, H. Brewer Wilder, III, Henry Allison “Hutt” Hutton, Jr., and Miller Lundy Wilder. She is survived by her three daughters, Lundy Wilder of Gulf Shores, AL, Cary Slatery of Knoxville and Nashville, TN, and Lisa Hutton of Germantown, TN., one son, Stephen A. Pridgen, Jr. of Greenwood, MS, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ann Pridgen Bailey and her husband Edgar Bailey. She also leaves five grandchildren, Steve Hutton, Frances and Harrison Slatery, Christopher and Hunter Pridgen, three great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Betsy Lundy Warner and Ruth Lundy Switzer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to First Evangelical Church (735 Ridgeway Lake Blvd, Memphis, TN 38120,) Wycliff Bible Translators (P.O. Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862,) or a charity of your choice.
