Shirley Ann Anna

November 23, 1935 – October 4, 2023

Our mother went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the age of 87. Shirley Ann Carson was born November 23, 1935 in Memphis, TN. In November of 1954 she married our dad, Charles Glaze (deceased as of 2013) a few days after their shared birthday. Our parents would both remarry later in life, but they remained the best of friends in the years that followed. In August of 1977 she married Joseph Anna (deceased as of 2003).

She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed gardening, reading, and traveling. She devoted a large part of her life to her many pets. They were her “babies” and she treated them as such! Music also played a big part in her life. She would attend concerts when possible or watch live performances on TV.

She leaves behind three daughters, Debbie G. McVean (John) of Memphis, Vicki M. Bell (John) of Memphis, and Kathy G. Mathews (Michael) of Crosslake, MN. She was also blessed to be grandmother to 6 grandchildren: Michael Bell (Rachel), Stephanie Johnson (Jeff), Allison Butturini (Robert), Laura Rhodes (Michael), Mallory Key (Andrew), and Beth Dycus (Robert). Our mom was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren. The entire family will miss her smile and laughter at our family gatherings.

There will be a private family service and burial on October 20, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made in Shirley’s memory to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the pet advocacy of their choice.
