Sonny, better known as Cappie to his 11 grandchildren, was born March 24, 1941 in Talladega, Alabama. He and his family moved to Tennessee when he was very young. His love of flying started when he was just a boy, and he made his living as an adult piloting for corporations and Northwest Airlink. His career took a huge turn when he and his wife of 53 years, Carrie, established Carahills Estate Wedding Chapel, in Fayette County in 1998.
Sonny was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church and loved witnessing to anyone his paths crossed.
Mr. Nivens is survived by his wife Carrie Nivens of Fayette County, TN; his four daughters Kimberly Wise, Leigh Barnes, Wendy Caen and Caroline Rogers.
Sonny had a Celebration of his Life on February 6th at the Manor at Carahills II in Gallaway, TN, where family and friends told loving stories about Sonny, and his favorite pictures and songs were shown and played.
In lieu of any flowers or gifts the family would like donations to go to The First Baptist Church of Gallaway, 377 Main St. Gallaway, TN 38036. Sonny loved this Church and all the good they do for the surrounding neighborhood.
