

Sue Forbes Counce died on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Munford, TN on December 12, 1930 to Clarence Monroe and Vera Joyner Forbes. She married her high school sweetheart, Tandy Counce in 1948. They moved to Memphis where she was employed by USF&G Insurance Company until 1961 when she left to start their family. She was a stay at home mom to their two sons until she joined her husband in the family business, Counce Marine, in 1972. They were well known and well respected throughout the marine industry.
Boating was the family pleasure as well as the family business, and most summer weekends and vacations were spent on area lakes, mostly Pickwick. In 1995, they built a lake house at Pickwick, which they enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
She had a real passion for travel and together with her husband had the privilege to have visited 76 countries on six continents.
She was a member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church and of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Tandy J. Counce Jr., a sister, Eva Forbes Vallery Barnett, and a brother, Raymond Ira "Pete" Forbes. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Forbes Counce and Eric Monroe Counce (Christy) and three grandchildren, Courtney Hewitt Counce, Jacob Lee Counce, Saige Elizabeth Counce, and one step grandchild, James Austin Crisp.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 26 at Memphis Funeral Home from 1 - 2 p.m. with a service to follow. The family requests that any memorials be offered to Colonial Park United Methodist Church or The Church Health Center.
