Sydney A. Harrison

Sydney Ann Harrison, 63, of Cordova, TN, died Sunday, May 1, 2016. She was born in Memphis, TN and was a graduate of Kingsbury High School and the University of Memphis where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration. She worked for Holiday Inns and Promus Hotel Corporation. At the time of her death she was the Practice Administrator for Endocrinology Associates of Memphis. She was a life long member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church.

Syd was a loyal, generous, kind loving and compassionate person. To know Syd was to love her. Anytime she could help someone, ease their pain or lighten their load it was her joy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ewing Hunter "Tank" Harrison, Jr. and Dorothy Miller Harrison and a nephew, Brandon Couey. She is survived by her brother, E. Hunter Harrison (Jeannie) of Wellington, FL, sisters Mary Couey of Spring, TX, Rev. Diane Harrison of Memphis and Rev. Helen Hamilton (Perry) of Savannah, TN, nieces Libby Julo (Earl) of Overland Park, KS, Kristen Couey of Spring, TX, Caroline Hamilton, Memphis, Cayce Judge (Quentin) Wellington, FL; five great-nieces, and a nephew, Jacob Hamilton (Mitzi) of Jackson, TN. Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar on Thursday evening, May 5, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service Friday, May 6, in the Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Dr. Paul H. Mullikin officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Grace Place United Methodist Church, 3476 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN 38122, a United Methodist prison congregation which she supported with many hours of tireless service.
