
THEODORE FRANCIS DIECK. On December 31 2011, Ted Dieck (89) flew east toward the sunrise on the next leg of his journey to the everlasting life. Ted was born and raised on Long Island, New York, and was a Hampton, Virginia Peninsula resident since 1962. He entered the US Army Air Corps in January 1942 and retired from the US Air Force in 1967. Ted was a Command Pilot. He did his undergraduate work at Long Island University, NY, earning a BS in Business Administration, and his graduate work at Hofstra University, NY, resulting in an MBA. Ted also was a graduate of the Air Tactical School in 1950, the Air Command and Staff College, the Federal Aviation Administration Academy, the Seminar Program of the Air War College and the German Intelligence School at Oberammergau. Upon retiring from the Air Force, he began a new career as a business professor, spending more than 25 years on college faculties. In his later years, he was a volunteer at the Langley Air Force Base, VA, Hospital and a docent at the Virginia Air and Space Center. A devout Catholic, Ted was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rose with whom he is now again united, forever. He is survived by his daughter Linda and husband, Joe of Fox Island, WA; son James and wife, Dinah of Germantown, TN; granddaughter, Nicole and grandson, Ryan both of the Tennessee address. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Ted to the United Service Organizations/USO. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery with full honors at a later date.
