She inherited a preciously strong faith from her devout Christian father. She was born and raised in Ca-Mau, the southernmost part of Viet-Nam. It was also the place where her home church was, also known as the Gospel (Tin-Lanh) Church of Ca-Mau pastored by the Reverend Ho Xuan Phong.
Her husband credited her strong Christian faith coupled with her patience, endurance and long-suffering for establishing his own submissive faith to Christ. “It all began with our near-death escape from Viet-Nam by boat through the Pacific Ocean,” he said, “during which our 2 infant children and a niece lost their lives due to lack of food and water.”
Thu-Ha was instrumental, together with her husband, in Christian ministries during the time they resided in the refugee camp in Galang, Indonesia. The work continued in Memphis, TN when they settled here almost 30 years ago— the work that led to the establishment of the current Vietnamese Baptist Church in Memphis. During this ministry, she served as a deacon of the church, as leader of the Women group, as Bible teacher for the youth group, as church leader championing praying. She was known to have the spiritual gift of singing praises to God, her Lord, with her beautiful voice.
She had been ill for over 12 years. She suffers no more now in the glorious presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She’s survived by her husband Hung, son An, and daughter Brittany.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, from 5-8 p.m., and funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue in Memphis. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery.
