

William Edwin Eanes, 81, retired Memphis banker, went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2011, after a brief illness. Mr. Eanes, son of the late John Booker and Mary Eanes was born in 1929 in Memphis, TN. He served as a Master Sergeant in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts for heroic actions. Mr. Eanes was a graduate of Treadwell High School and Draughns Business School. He retired from First American Bank in 1997, where he was Vice President of Bank Security. He joined Bass Pro in 2002 and welcomed all who came through the door as "Mr. Ed" the greeter. Mr. Eanes had a great love for his five grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He also had a passion for antique cars and fishing. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 60 years, Marjorie; sons, Michael Eanes and Mark Eanes (Debbie); daughter, Mary Sell (Duane); five beautiful grandchildren, John and Scott Eanes and Theo, Ben and Margaret Sell, all of Memphis; brother, J. B. Eanes (Faye) of Grand Valley Lakes; sister, Julia Eanes of Memphis, the late Catherine Schmidt (George) and the late Betty Stephens (Billy) of Memphis; J. R. (Ray) and Dorothy Benson of Memphis. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 25, from 5-7 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorials Gardens, Poplar Avenue. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, at St. James Catholic Church, 4180 Leroy Avenue, Memphis, Tn 38108. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar.
