

David M. Hermes Sr., age 66, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay. He was born on January 27, 1945 in Baraboo, Wisconsin, son of the late Martin and Anne (Kelly) Hermes Sr. Dave served in the United States Army during Viet Nam from 1965 to 1967. On June 10, 1967, Dave was united in marriage to Sandra Gibson at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha. He was employed by American Can and retired from there after 32 years of employment. Dave loved to gamble and play poker. He was a member of the Sherwood Lions Club and on the Board of Directors for RAMS. Most of all, Dave loved being around his grandchildren.
Dave will be missed by his loving children: David (Terri) Jr., Scott (Chris), and Michelle (Steve); six grandchildren: Cory, Gabriella, Madelyn, Brandon, Kendra, and Jordan; three brothers: Martin (Jane) Hermes Jr., Steve (Kathy) Hermes, Cliff Hermes; sisters-in-law: Shirley (Wayne) Hoelzel, Ginger (Jerome) Baer; a brother-in-law, Jerry (Karen) Gibson; Godson, Brian Hoelzel; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Dave’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff at AMC, and to Alma at Heartland Homecare for all of their kindness and care.
And also a heartfelt thanks to Doug, Becky, and Howie, for their wiliness to help our dad.
