Florence Gertrude Petersen

Florence G. Petersen, age 90, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Florence was born on October 9, 1920, in Neenah, daughter of the late John and Rose (Verkuilen) Schreiber. On September 17, 1938, Florence was united in marriage to Vernon E. Petersen and they had celebrated 60 years together until his passing on December 23, 1998. She enjoyed watching the Packers every Sunday. She loved gardening and had many flowers.

Florence will be missed by her loving children: Patricia (Larry) Nelson, Gail (Dan) Sanderfoot, Richard (Jean) Petersen, Thomas (Cathy) Petersen, Colleen (Richard) Lee, Susan (Alex) Strange, Edward Petersen; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Wilmarth Thayer; and other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death, by three sisters: Lucille Reimer, Elizabeth Schommer, Ruth Maciejewski; a brother, Kenneth Schreiber; sister-in-law, Eleanor Thayer; and a brother-in-law, Arthur (Irene) Petersen.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 8, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the hour of the service at the church. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
