

For 44 years Ron worked for Marathon, American Can and James River Corporation, retiring on July 1, 1994, as a Journeyman Pipefitter, Crew Chief.
During the Korean War, Ron served in the U.S. Air Force. He then served with the Wisconsin National Guard. Ron loved to bowl and was a board member for the Menasha Bowling Association. He also served as a Maintenance Safety Captain and Chairman of Hourly Safety Committee – Menasha Carton Plant.
Ron was a First Aid Man at the mill for more than 25 years and he also served on the board of the Marathon Credit Union for 9 years. For 8 of those years, he served as the Vice-President. He loved fishing, especially when he could take his grandchildren along with him. Anytime his children or grandchildren broke something, they would say “Don’t worry. Grandpa will fix it!” Ron graduated from Menasha High School in 1950. He cheered for the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. One of his favorite past times was visiting casinos to play the slot machines.
Ron is survived by his two daughters: Sue (Tom) Englebert of Neenah and Lori Ruesch and friend Brian Botterman of Oshkosh. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren -- Dr. Amy Groff (Dan Andrekus), Scott (Celia) Groff, Jason (Amanda) Ruesch, Steve Lamb and Erik Englebert; 3 great grandchildren – Luke and Maggie Andrekus and Jackson Ruesch. Ron is also survived by his brother, Merl (Jan) Ruesch of New York, his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Delman Ruesch of Neenah, Ruth (Gary) Carew of Menasha, Karen (Bill) Kraus of Brookfield; and his special friend, Marylyn Nett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Jackie (Schmitzer) 1990, daughter Connie Lyn, son Timothy, brother Delman Ruesch, niece Kathy (Ruesch) Buksyk and nephew Jeffery Ruesch and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jerry and Gert Schmitzer.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held from 4:00 – 7:30 pm on Monday, August 8, 2011, at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha with a, Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. with Chaplin Jordan Kuczwara. Inurnment will be in St. John Cemetery, Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his name.
