Edwin Vincent Francisco, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and devoted nurse, passed peacefully after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was 58 years old.
Edwin was born on January 25, 1967, in Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. From a young age, he was known for his warm heart, sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and natural ability to connect with others. He attended Seventh-day Adventist Filipino Union College for grade school, Notre Dame for high school, and St. Jude for nursing school, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the strong values that would guide him throughout his life.
Edwin began his nursing career in 1992 and later immigrated to Southern California, where he continued to dedicate himself to caring for others for more than three decades. For nearly the last ten years of his career, he worked as a psychiatric nurse, where his compassion, patience, and gentle presence made a profound difference in the lives of his patients and their families.
Throughout his battle with cancer, Edwin was supported with unwavering love by his devoted wife, Mina, to whom he was married for 34 beautiful years. She was his strength, advocate, and constant source of comfort. Her dedication and care were a true testament to the depth of their love and partnership.
Edwin was a proud and loving father to his two children, Mark and Erin Francisco, who were the light of his life and his greatest source of pride.
Edwin was known for his easygoing nature, sociability, and ability to make anyone feel instantly at ease. He loved to travel, enjoy good food, and spend time fixing cars, a hobby that brought him happiness. Above all, Edwin treasured time with his family and friends. One of his greatest joys was playing with Maverick, the golden retriever of his son, Mark, who brought him endless smiles.
He leaves behind a family who adored him and countless friends and patients whose lives were forever changed by his compassion, laughter, and kindness.
Though his passing leaves a deep ache in our hearts, Edwin’s legacy of love, service, and quiet strength will continue to live on in every life he touched.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
