George Bernard Dempsey

George Dempsey, born February 5, 1930, in Pikesville, MD, passed away on July 12, 2024, in San Diego, CA at the age of 94. George was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and baseball and music lover. He was quick with his jokes, could recite most any baseball statistic, and could give you freeway directions to anywhere in Southern California. George is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Sharon Singleton and her husband Mike and son Michael Dempsey; grandchildren Leeanne Singleton, Jennifer Singleton Garcia and her husband Devin Garcia, and Blake Dempsey; great grandsons Gavin and Landon Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews. His son, Stephen Dempsey, pre-deceased him in 2009. George graduated from Mt. St. Joseph High School and the Baltimore College of Commerce. Along with his young family, George relocated from Baltimore to Palos Verdes Estates, CA in 1972 for a job transfer with Commercial Credit. Twenty years later and after retirement, George and Mary relocated to Castle Creek in Escondido to be closer to family and a golf course. In 2001, they moved to The Oasis in Menifee and lived there almost twenty years. In 2020, they moved to The Remington Club in Rancho Bernardo, once again to be closer to family in their later years. Celebration of life services are pending. George will be a wonderful angel, tooling around on his little red scooter and keeping an eye on all of us.
