George was welcomed into the Lord’s arms on June 20, 2023, at 7 AM. Over the last 5 days of George’s life, he was surrounded by his biggest fans, his devoted wife Dorothy, his loving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and caregivers who loved and cherished him.
George “Woody” (his nickname) never knew a stranger, everyone was his friend, and everyone received a bear hug when he greeted you. Friends and family share that he gave the best hugs! He was a man on integrity, honesty, kindness, and generosity. He so loved his family and friends. He put his family first above all else.
Dorothy and George were truly soul-mates, married for 70 years! They enjoyed traveling, Mexican trains, water aerobics, square dancing, the senior center, and being with family and friends.
Woody worked in the printing business for over 30 years. He worked for Blake-Moffitt and Town, Unisource. His customers loved him and his work ethic was beyond approach. George and Dorothy were parishioners of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church for over 20 years and attended the 6:30 AM Mass until George’s health declined. He loved the Lord!
Despite his severe decline in health over the last 4 years, he always had a smile, appreciating his care and the love of his devoted family, friends, and our wonderful loving caregivers who have become family to us, some have been with us for over 8 years.
George is survived by his loving wife Dorothy who was so devoted to him, Sister Joy Garity (Florida) His three children Leslie, Lisa, George, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
As everyone knew George, he would greet you and say goodbye with a big hug… Please remember to always give big hugs to your family and friends!
Rest in Peace; Honey, Dad, and Poppop… WE LOVE YOU!
A committal service for George will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
