

Robert (Bob) Chan II, 76, joined his Lord in heaven on New Year’s Day at home in Sun City, CA. He was lovingly cared for in his last months by his grandson Ethyn Chan and also Hospice since late November.
Bob was born to Robert and Nancy Chan in 1949, and grew up in greater Los Angeles County, CA, with his younger brothers Richard and Thomas. His outgoing personality, kindness, generosity and great sense of humor, won him many friends throughout his life.
He graduated Cal State, Fullerton, with a degree in Business Communications.
Starting in the late 1970s, Bob was employed first at JC Penney Automotive and then at Firestone for 30+ years, working his way up from sales to regional trainer. His dedication, professionalism, leadership, ability to connect with people, listen thoughtfully, and lead with integrity set him apart and won him admiration from his coworkers, some of whom became lifelong friends.
In 1988, Bob moved to Sun City, CA, where he later retired. He loved spending time with his family and friends there. After a divorce, he raised, as a single father, his son Matthew-Robert (Matt) and was a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren, who adored him. They regularly enjoyed spending time together.
Bob was active in his church and participated in mission projects in Mexico, Cuba, Hungary, India and Haiti. He was altruistic in supporting numerous ministries and charities. With friends, he enjoyed watching sports, fishing, fantasy football and flying model planes.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, and Matt, who died unexpectedly in 2015. He’s survived by his brothers—Richard (Deborah) and Thomas—cherished daughter-in law Heatherlee Chan Wood, her husband Adam Wood, and his beloved grandchildren: Ethyn Chan (mother Corinna Nuñez), Calvin and Clara Chan, and Clementine and Colby Wood.
He will be dearly remembered and missed by all who loved him.
He is interred at the at Miller Jones Mortuary and Crematory in Menifee, CA.
