Tim came to America, and more specifically Le Grand, California, in November of 1991. Prior to coming to America, Tim owned a trucking and charter bus business. Locally he drove charter bus for Best Tours and Travel of Fresno until retiring at the age of 74.
Tim had many interests, he started playing the bagpipes at the age of nine in the Tableland Band and continued playing the bagpipes the rest of his life whether in ANZAC parades, competitions, for family and friends, or his wife’s fourth grade students. Another interest was of growing things, whether Australian plants started in his greenhouse, a large flower and shrub garden, or more veggies than he and Gloria could ever eat. He loved to share the produce and plants. Tim shared his love of gardening with his great grandson Lane by having him start to ‘help’ at the age of two. Another interest was woodworking and restoring the ‘old stuff’ he found in the barn.
Tim loved to travel, meet new people, and learn new things. He was known for his kindness, love of family, and being a devout Christian.
Tim is survived by his wife Gloria Schwinn Hennessey, his American and Australian families. His American step family include granddaughter Christine Pickard (Darren) and family Reagan and Gage; grandson Alan Stickles (Krisha) and family Lane and Sadie; and daughter Jackie Hixon and her children Krystal and Nathan Powell, son in law Glen Stickles and nephew Jason Draper. Tim’s Australian family include his daughter Melissa Hennessey (Damien Rice); sister Barbara Knox; grandson Jon Hennessey (Samantha) and son Myles; granddaughter Kate Hennessey (Josh White) and family Grace, Gwen, Grayson, and Oakley; brother in law Berry Brown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 26th, at 10:00 am, at the Plainsburg Cemetery (8943 Gillette Ave, Le Grand). A reception will be held immediately following at the Jerd Baxter Community Hall (13065 Adams St, Le Grand).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Merced County Rescue Mission, one of Tim’s favorite charities, or plant a perennial in remembrance of Tim.
