

Betty was born in Burly, ID on September 9,1920. When she was 7 years old, she moved with her family to Missoula, Montana. She graduated from Missoula High School in 1938.
In 1941, she moved to Portland, Oregon and worked for Pacific Northwestern Telephone Company. It was in Portland that she met the love of her life, Ralph. They were married in Portland in March, 1946. They were married 69 years.
Ralph and Betty moved to Merced in 1952 with their two daughters. Betty was active in the Blue Birds, the Girl Scouts and Eastern Star Lodge. After the girls were raised, Betty worked as a secretary for the Merced City School District for 14 years until she retired in 1982. She had a full and wonderful life.
Betty leaves behind her husband, Ralph, her daughters Nancy (Thomas Wegge) and Janice (Gus Kaplanis) of Sacramento and her granddaughter, Lisa Martis (Kevin Darmody) of Incline Village, NV.
Betty died from complications due to Alzheimer ’s disease. Her family wants to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to her caregivers, especially Paulette King, Jackie Hernandez Jackie Stankovich and Elizabeth Lee. Also to Hinds Hospice who help so much in easing the family and Betty through the final days.
A celebration of life will be held on October 9, 2015 at 11am at Central Presbyterian Church, 1920 Canal Street, Merced, CA
