

Dennis Clark Moomjean was born in San Diego, CA on August 9th, 1942. When Dennis reached his toddler years, his parents Kathryn Edith and James R. Moomjean relocated the family to Merced, CA, where he was raised and later attended Merced area schools.
Dennis met the love of his life, Beverly Sellers, in the summer of 1962. They were married January 12,1964 and settled in Merced, CA where they raised their three daughters.
As a lifelong lover of all things car related, Dennis could always be found at his family owned car lot, under the hood of some sweet ride, or his favorite place of all, the race track.
Dennis raced his well known #1 cars for 15 years during the 1960s and 70s, amassing 112 wins and 9 Sportsman Championships throughout his racing career. Dennis was a true legend at Merced Speedway where he was given the tremendous honor of being one of the first to be inducted into the Merced Speedway Hall of Fame in 2022.
In addition to his passion for racing, Dennis was a loyal follower of the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, and the San Francisco Giants. Throughout the years, Dennis was also an active member of various clubs and organizations including; The California State Sheriffs' Association, Valley Vintage Car Club and the Porsche Club of America, amongst many others.
Dennis loved to tell jokes and had a great laugh that could always be heard after he would deliver one of his many clever punchlines. Dennis made many long time friends throughout his life and racing career, all of whom could attest to his astounding ability of recalling events, never omitting a single detail. If you didn't have an hour to spare, you would be missing out on an epic story with the most vivid imagery.
After Dennis' retirement in 2004, he and his wife Beverly, enjoyed spending time in Cambria, and the Monterey Peninsula area where they could enjoy beautiful sceneries and visit unique shops, often bringing back their favorite finds to share with their grandkids. Dennis also found tranquility in gardening and tending to his yard. His dedication to his garden was evident to his neighbors, who often admired his work and were fond of the beautiful, well-maintained yard he had created.
Dennis, a beloved member of the Merced, CA community, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home, on January 1st, 2025. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Moomjean (Sellers), his parents James R and Kathryn Moomjean (Clark), and his brother Phil Moomjean.
Dennis is survived by his daughters Kathy (Jeff) George of Merced, Pam Moomjean of Los Angeles, CA. Nanette Moomjean of Atwater, CA. His grandchildren Victoria Curtis of Scottsdale, AZ, Danyale (AJ) Cox of Rancho Cordova, CA, Darienne (Keith) Baker of Merced, CA, Nick (Erica) Hanneman of Merced, CA, NoeIle Hanneman of Denver, CO and Zack Cline of Merced, CA. Dennis is also survived by his ten great grandchildren, Wyatt and Abygail Cox, Brian Rodriguez and Emmalyn Baker, Addison, Adam, and Reina Cline, Aiden Whited and Londyn Battles, and Aubrie Hanneman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1st at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, located at 2916 N. McKee in Merced, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Merced Speedway.
